I went ot the supermarket today to get my weekly shop for the family. I needed to take the car so i decided to try and do some thing to offset the emissions from my car at the same time.

Instead of putting my washing in the Tumble Dryer before I went out I hung it on the line to dry.
I collected all my Carrier Bags and Cool Bags to use for the shopping instead of using new ones.
Instead of driving the Kids to schoold and going straight to the Supermarket, I walked the kids to school then walked home and got the car.
I took all our empty bottles, old papers and some clothes that the children have grown out of with me and used the recycling centre in the supermarket car park.

What else could I have done?

Do you think I offset my car emissions? (1.6 ltr unleaded fuel, journey of 5 miles approx 15 - 20 minutes driving time. )

Would you or do you do the same?

With the trend to reduce carbon footprint where possible, will you be looking for green Kettles, toaster, bread makers.....? If so why and what would you expect from them. How far can you go with this!

is a percentage of the ice melting at the moment not just a natural thing due to coming out of the last ice age. is it not a natural cycle that's been happing for millions of years, didnt there used to be trees growing in antartica years ago

i am just wondering how many tons of it coffee shops around the world disposed of in the garbage...i am in process of opening my own coffee shop,i want to learn of a more responsible way of disposing my basic waste....i am hoping that in this way i can help our environment if in any way coffee product wastes are a hazard to the environment.

Hey ! why can't wild life officials tranqulise and remove the tusk from the elephant and horns from the rhino before they are poached for the possesions ?? won't that render these animals useless for poachers ?? they anywhich ways tranqulise to monitor / sterlise/ administer/ research etc. !!

Why are so many people going on about this subject? personally i think this is a natural progress in the earths cycle,ok i don't think all the emisions are helping the matter,maybe speeding it up a touch.this is just anouther way of the gov taxing us more,it's going to happen so why all the fus,there was life before us here and there will be after us,that's the way nature is so why worry about it?

alot of people here in canada are talking about how global warming is changing the climate coz its been fairly warm down at toronto... aand how the icecaps in the north pole are melting away... I'm scared about how the earth is going to end up in the future and how it is gonna effect our lives.

it would seem that with all the facts out there on global warming, people would come to their senses and not ignore the warning signs. Is it just me or are some people just brushing their shoulders off on this issue. I understand that some may look outside and see beautiful weather but what about the ice caps?

I would say that some "thinning of the herds" is needed. If we keep going at this rate we will need two earths' supply of resources.
