I think governments ignore global climate change, but people are supposed to be the government. Even the average person notices that the recent horrific weather events in the US the past week were not normal. More to the point, scientists agree that there is global climate change while governments proclaim ''their experts" say this is not happening. The only thing scientists might disagree on is how global climate change will occur and when. The Doomsday Clock was set to 5 minutes before midnight, taking into account for the first time global climate change could mean the end of life. There are plenty of people who know this, so you are not alone.

Actually the realality is the temperature of the earth has increased less than 7/10 of 1 degree (C) from 1880 to 2005. That is an increase of about 1 degree (F) in 125 years. You may choose to believe that is global warming or you may not. Source: http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/2005/2005cal_fig1.gif There are numerous charts all over the internet showing the same. Some say that 1 degree is enough to impact the global climate, others say it's not. Most proponents of global warming think the earth's temperature has risen much more than that and don't even know that it has only risen by 1 degree. But the charts do not lie as do the proponents on both sides of this issue. The average temperature in the Antarctica is 109 degrees below zero. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antarctica#Climate It seems to me 108 below (one degree warmer) is still pretty cold and not enough to melt anything. But there are those that say it will.
Back in the '70s all the hype was about global COOLING and another ice age was coming. I remember that they blamed pollution for that too. They said that all the pollution was darkening the skies and not as much sun was coming through so the earth was cooling off. It took many years to discover that they were mistaken and it was all just hype. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_cooling So when someone says, "the sky is falling" don't believe everything you hear on either side of the issue. There are Spin Doctors galore out there.
Most of the time people will form an opinion and not really be informed about the subject with which they become so opinionated about. So it's best that you not form your opinions from other's opinions, (as in this forum) but on the facts presented. (Many do not provide any proof or links to prove their point, just their opinion.) With that said we do have a responsibility to do our part by doing whatever is within your power to keep our planet alive and well.
I hope that helps...

Because there are possibilities of far more immediately calamitous global crises. Ask yourself this, why do people also "ignore" :
1) The pending Cumbre Viejo (Canary Island) volcanic landslide who's tsunami will wipe out the entire east coast of the U.S. and South America?
2) The pending eruption of the super volcano at Yellowstone?
3) The pending (any time now) asteroid impact that will turn our atmosphere into a 2000 degree plasma?
4) The pending Avian flu pandemic that will wipe out 40% of the worlds populations?
Climate change has been occurring on this planet in regular cycles for millions of years...
OK... You now make up the priority list, which pending disaster do we attack first?

i have to agree with Carl. i think because a lot of people think that there will always be a "next generation" but thats a really bad reason. People need to read the signs of these end times, because they will be a part of the world's demise if we dont.
Everyone just wants ignore it so they dont feel guilt and so they dont have to take part in helping change things. =) just my opinion though.

the earths climate has ben changing for thousands of years, long before man came along.
when there is too much data people tune out.
we can only relate to small amounts of data at a time,it is a genetic survival trait.
both global warming and global dimming are affecting us and if we do not do something to reverse the warming we will find our cities near the sea flooded and dramatic changes taking place.

Because people don't care about their ******* children, or their childrens children. People only care about how much money they can have, right now. People only think about heaven and hell. Not the fact that they might have to live through the next life. Tell your government that you'd rather breathe then be rich off the sales of oil.

Conservatives quite baffle and exasperate Liberals. Why? because Conservatives seem to have good beliefs even as the Liberal is fortunate if he can formulate some imprecise, hazy philosophy of issues. even as the Conservative argues with the Liberal, the Liberal feels he ought to lash out for concern of learning that his entire imaginary international is only that: fiction. So, Liberals pontificate "tolerant", yet in reality tolerance for his or her viewpoints. some thing else is heresy. only attempt confronting a Liberal with the information about international warming and he will just about start up foaming on the mouth. The recommendations of the Liberal won't be able to well known that a Conservative is ideal because the hairy Liberal recommendations is kind of a shaky homestead of playing cards. If the Liberal realizes he's incorrect about one ingredient, it completely destroys their entire imagined fact he has built for himself. So even as Liberals scream like threatened babies once you talk about FOX information, or Rush Limbaugh, it truly is because their brains are literally not stressed out to settle for contradictory concepts. I study significantly; both from the Left and the right. I placed my beliefs to the attempt by quite checking in the journey that they are in accordance with reality, information, and in no way only conjecture and a psychological construct. Liberals won't be able to attempt this. it would want to wreck their heavily-crafted dream international life.

Because it is too much info and effort to know. They just rather be lazy, live for today and ignore the signs that can impact on the near future.
