Hello I'm a microbiology major undergrad at UCLA and I've just finished my sophomore year in disappointment. I really want to improve my chances of getting into a decent professional school but my GPA is a pathetic 2.8 and my science/math GPA probably worse.
I'm wondering, what am I doing wrong? I used to get decent scores in high school and admittedly high school was much easier and much more lenient but I want to improve. I don't want to give up science. Optimistically, I'm wondering is there any way for me to get my GPA to a 3.5 before I graduate? Anyone have this experience before where they took their low GPAs and made a comeback?
I guess it's really depressing, and I'm just wishing that there is some hope for a fellow like me.

My son is 21 and graduated with a 2-year degree from a community college. He is entering a state university under a special program where he is going in as a Junior. He didn't get to apply for on-campus housing until June, so he didn't get his choice of an apartment or suite. They have put him in a dorm, sharing a room with 1 other person. Thankfully, I don't think it is one of the Freshmen dorms.

He's very focused, non-drinker, non-smoker and very mature for his age. What are the chances of him not getting frustrated with dorm living and sharing a room? What can he expect?

Is it as cut-throat and overwhelmingly difficult as Hollywood makes it seem? What type of student goes to law school and what are some good law schools that aren't Ivy League or "Public Ivy?"

University at Buffalo or Stony Brook? Both are part of the the SUNY system and both have a medical school. Also, does it matter if you go to public or private school when applying for medical school?

I always wanted to go to Yale,Princeton or Stanford.

But I also know that the acceptance rates are horrifyingly low, like 12 percent.

What can you do to help get accepted.

And what is an example of someone they would want.

Example:
GPA
SAT score
What kind of extra curricular, and do you have to be like the president of it or can you just be a historian or something?

I got 1190 on my SATs (590 on verbal and 610 on math)... I don't know if they factor in the writing part yet, but I got 590 on it. My GPA is about an 85% which i believe transfers to about a 3.0. I'm ranked 314th in my class (out 592).

I am starting college at my community college soon and I am signing up for classes. How far apart should I schedule my classes? Should I give myself a 15 minute break or 30 minute break in between classes? I would love any advice.

I'm about to start my second year of college and I still don't know what I want to study and be. My mom is on my *** about choosing a career. But i just don't know.

Some of my choices are: broadcasting, mass communications/journalism, psychology, and sociology.

Any advice?

Does anyone know a site where I can take one of those career tests that tell you what might be a good career choice for you?

I need all the help I can get. Thanks!

(Oh, and I do give 10 POINTS)

If you have a phD (or any doctorate), what is it in, how long did it take, post/pre Masters program, would you do it again, what school was it done at, and do you think its worth it? You don't have to answer all the questions, just some of them. I'm just wondering how other people feel about it and what they have done. Also, any good stories about it?
