I just finnished my second year at college I was just informed that I got dismissed from the college because of my grades and i could file for an appeal. This sucks really really bad!!!!. This is like my worst nightmare. I just slacked off a little too much. Anyway, I know that I HAVE to go back someway somehow. Now I have a couple of questions and I'm hoping that someone will PLEASE help me out. Number one. I want to file an appeal but I don't think that my situation is really legitimate. I just want to know if anyone knows
what the most legitamite appeals are or if someone did this already and it worked.(please nothing stupid). Number two. 2 years ago i was accepted to a couple of other schools. I went on BLACKBOARD and it said that I am a STUDENT. Does this mean that I dont have to apply to those schools (community colleges by the way) again and I could just register for classes or do I have to apply again? If someone went through this before, please give me advice on what to do!!!

I am a senior in college, and I am in yet another class this summer that forces me to do a group project. I have decided that there are too many incompetent people in this world to ever have a group without one. I have never been a group that did not contain at least one person who at best is extra baggage. I always feel like I either have to do all the work and carry other people, or let my grade suffer for their incompetence. Let me work by myself! Anyone have the same feelings?

Hey everyone! I start school in August and a friend of mine said that getting a voice recorder to record lectures would be a good idea...

Do a lot of people in college use voice recorders? Should I get one?

When I started college I was not very motivated and did not do all that well. I droped a lot of classes and also got a lot of F's and D's. I now have found motivation and have a desire to do much better academiclly. My semester grades are A's and B's now. However my over all gpa is still around a 2.1. I want to go to Law School but I doubt any decent school will admit me with that low a gpa. The university I attend will not allow me to repeat the courses I got F's in and keep the new grade. Does anyone know how I could get in to a decent law school? I know that a strong LSAT can compensate but I have been told that with my situation more may be needed than a strong LSAT. Any advice?

My mom REALLY wants me to get into an Ivy leage school. She has made sure I made perfect grades and everything.

So, my question is: do I have a chance at all?
1. All A's since kindergarden (starting highschool)
2. going to a magnet school (hopefully)
3. in the national junior honors society
4. Have completed 3 high school credits before completing middle school
5. have gotten commemded performance on every single TAKS test since 3rd grade.
6. volunteer
7. Play French horn (i dont know if that matters)
8. Vice-president of a couple of clubs at my school

Is it okay to have a couple B's on your high school trancript? Does it really affect my chances in getting accepted? What kind accomplishments do you have to have for them to even consider you? What are certain activites or certain qualities a person has that they really look for? The more information i get about how to get accepted in Ivy League would be oh so helpful.

My son has been offered several university places including the LSE, Oxford and Bristol. However, he wants to study Economics at Kent University because it means he can live at home and keep in touch with his school chums, who are also mainly hoping to study at Kent University.

Is this a choice he will live to regret?

Studied Bach Biomed Sci and honours and been working as a Research Assistant (RA) in reproductive science field and have been asked by boss if wanted to do a phd. There is a perfect project available and have to give him an answer soon.
I like being an RA bc job is flexible, dont have to work weekends,do what supervisor asks.
Why I dont want to do a phd:more work(long hrs, working weekends) and wont be paid for it(will get less than 1/2 salary than what i get now),need to be passionate about the research(i mean i like science but not so passionate about it), need to b mentally focused to do it (which i dont think i am), and dont think i want to be a post doc or lecturer after i finish (i cant see myself in those positions).
What are the job opportunities like after doing a Phd(apart from being a postdoc or lecturer? Is it harder to get certain jobs?I heard phds may be overqualified.
What other career opportunities are there in the biomed field apart from doing phd?
