I'm leaving for college in August and I have an on-campus apartment, with a lot more room than a traditional dorm has. However, I live on the east coast and my college is in California, so just shipping a lot of my stuff would be expensive. The fact is, since I have a kitchen, I need to bring all my cooking stuff (I like to make my own meals b.c im a vegetarian), which is a lot of heavy objects. That plus the fact that I love to read and I have quite a few collections going, I just can't decide what to bring. There is a full-size refrigerator and a oven/stove in my apartment as well as the basic beds, couches, coffee table, and desks. There is a storage area included in my apartment (at least in the online layout) and my room isn't a bad size either and there are a lot of closets.

I just want advice on the amount of clothing to bring, what of my "stuff" to take and what to leave home?

thnx

P.S.- I have no way of contacting my roommates (there will be 3 others, two to a room)!

I'm debating whether I see any point in doing a PhD in physics or not. On the plus side, I'd get experimental skills in the area and I liked the physics friends that I would be returning to in graduate school at McMaster. But I can't convince myself of any economic justification for doing it. I really don't see myself as a postdoc or professor down the line and just because I could do physics doesn't mean I have a specific interest in any particular field. I would be making around $24000 per year as a grad student.

Now what I've been debating is retraining for a degree in commerce, specifically for finance or accounting. There's lots of jobs constantly listed in the local newspaper for these positions and the income after a few years would be much greater than a few years than the 10 years as a postdoc. Would investing another four years into a commerce degree be a worthwhile investment?

I am going to transfer to a university for the fall, and want to quit my pizza delivery job, and sell my car and just ride my bike a couple of miles to get to school. I need to lose weight, and it will be tight not working, but I will have more time on my hands for school and activities and since gas is so high why even bother? Well I will be able to pay my few bills (rent, food and phone bill) with grants, loans and the little savings that I have. Whar do you guys think? Have you done this kind of thing before? The grocery store is accross the street, and any student can ride the bus for free so you can get to the mall etc. Bills would be approx 700/mo

I have a degree in sociology and have been trying for 3 years to get a decent paying job. A degree now a days is just like a high school diploma, everyone has one. I have also noticed that its not what you know, its who you no, when looking for employment. I have seen people with no education but with years of experience at CEO, Director and management positions. What should I do ? If so, what area of study should I get into, where I will get a job?

I am a senior and been looking through the common application. In the common application, there is a space where you could write down your friend who attends the university. I have a friend who is currently at a university I plan to apply. Will it help me in the admission process if I write the friend's name? Do I have a better chance of getting in? I know if you have a family member that attended or attends the university that you have a better chance of getting in. Is it the same way with friends?

I am writing about my best friend's disease and how it has inspired me to pursue medicine. There is more before this but obviously I can't fit it all, so here is where I am stuck....

"It was while accompanying him on one of these visits that I was exposed to a world that I had never known. Children’s hospital was filled with unfortunate people and I had the opportunity to meet a variety of them. Though I thought nothing could be worse than my best friend’s disease, brain cancer at the age of seven easily topped it.

The gap between my experience with my best friend and now has allowed a new part of me to grow. Through awareness of disease I am allowed to live with a deeper appreciation for life."

I can't figure out where to go with this!!! Please any suggestions would be awesome!

I have noticed that some people on Yahoo! Answers look down upon online degrees no matter what school they are from and that some contributors say that for profit schools are bad.

Why is this?

I have friend going Warton for his mba, he graudated from the University of New Haven is white and american born and studied management. He started his own company right after college and wants to change careers. His major in graduate school is corporate finance, accounting, real estate and international business. BUt he feels that his undergraduate school is no good and his lack of analyst expierence will shut the doors on him.

He knows that IB;s want people with previous expierence as analysts with ivy league educations.

I have a 4.11 average because of AP classes, I have taken 4 yrs of chorus, I am section leader of Soprano 1's, apart of the selected jazz choir, participated in all-county(Suffolk, NY) last year, was an all-state alternate (I received a "100" on my all-state piece), i should be participating in all-county and all-state this upcoming fall because I once again scored a "100" on my all-state nyssma solo. I am also taking AP Music Theory my senior year. What are my chances?
