After you check out the potential careers available with each degree and find some you think you might like, do a little more research using Occupational Outlook (http://www.bls.gov/oco/) to get more information about salaries, growth and more in those careers.
After you do this research, you'll be in a MUCH better position to choose a major. Nothing is sadder than a student that spends four years (or more) pursuing a degree that leads to a career he or she doesn't like...I see that all too frequently!

I have an el ed certificate and I would suggest looking at shortage areas and consider how far you would be willing to move to get a teaching job. Stop by the career services office of your chosen college and see if they have any information regarding employment trends. I wouldn't recommend Elementary Education if you are rural or geographically restricted.
