I just finished my junior year but would like to apply in the fall. I have a 4.11 average because of AP classes, I have taken 4 yrs of chorus, I am section leader of Soprano 1's, apart of the selected jazz choir, participated in all-county(Suffolk, NY) last year, was an all-state alternate (I received a "100" on my all-state piece), i should be participating in all-county and all-state this upcoming fall because I once again scored a "100" on my all-state nyssma solo. I am also taking AP Music Theory my senior year. What are my chances?

Despite all that (which is very impressive!), chances are still very slim. Only 7% of applicants are accepted - obviously it's intense competition. Do you have any background in opera? If not, I would definitely suggest starting music lessons with someone with an opera background. Don't let this discourage you, though. It IS very competitive, but obviously you are a great singer. How is your sight reading? Working on that would help a lot, too.

If Julliard doesn't work out, try Oberlin, Peabody, the Manhattan school of music, NYU, Sesquehannah, and Shennandoah. Best wishes!

You need an excellent private teacher who has experience in preparing/coaching voice students for the audition. You also need a documented solo performance history with an extensive repertoire. Look on Juilliard's website to see the pieces you need to prepare for your audition. An alternative would be to apply to Columbia while you continue training which has a joint degree program with Juilliard. If perchance you need more time to prepare your vocal training, after you graduate from college, Juilliard has an excellent Artist Certificate and Masters program. A second choice would be Oberlin and Yale has an excellent music program.
