My brother just made a 33 on his ACT and likes the good weather in Florida, but all the schools seem sub par academically (UF, FSU, UCF).

Are there any liberal arts colleges in Florida?

I am a incoming Berkeley freshman majoring in Microbial Biology at CNR (College of Natural Resource). But i want to change my major to Neuroscience at L&S (Letters and Science College). Is it a good idea to change my major? I am going for a pre-med course.

CNR is said to be the most flexible, better for small-learning, and convienent for pre-med pre-reqs. L&S is said to have more req than CNR, more competitive, and a larger learning community (student to teacher ratio is bigger than ratio of CNR). I am confused....what should i do ....any advice? Is transferring to CNR to L&S easier? HElp please!?!?!?!?

I've applied to transfer to Ohio University for this Fall 2007 quarter and have been admitted but haven't really done anything since because I thought my mind was made up to go to Ohio State University. But recently I have been thinking things over and have realized that Ohio University is a better suite for me since it's smaller. Does Anyone know if it is too late to go to OU? My gut feeling says no, since I've already been accepted into the school...but I'm not sure.

This may sound like a stupid question, but one of my friends wants to become a doctor and I was curious as to whether he could major in biology or chemistry or any science if he goes to a liberal arts college.

I am 25 years old, married with no children. When I was a child, I always wanted to be a vet. As I got older, there was no money for expensive college, so I went to a local community college and got an Associates degree in Marketing. I would still like to work towards becoming a vet, but don't know where to begin. There are colleges in my area that have "marine biology" programs, but non that I can find that have "pre-vet" programs. Do I have to start with a pre-vet program, or could I get a "pre-med" degree? We have a mortgage and my husband has a good job and I make decent money, so we just can't pickup and move to a closer school...atleast for several years. I live in the Savannah Georgia area. Suggestions? Comments? Is it too late for me? I found a college that would take my whole AAS as transfer credit, leaving me with only 2 years to obtain a bachelors degree in management...would a vet school accept a bachelor's degree? Should I get a job at a vet's office?

I interviewed there 5 years ago. I thought the interviewers to be quite stuffy, and not at all friendly or welcoming. I drove 8 hours for the interview, only to be told within the first 20 seconds that I was much less qualified and educated than most of the other candidates! Now I have another interview. What does Duke want in an employee?

BTW, years ago my roommate had an interview with Duke to attend undergrad school--they told her during the interview that she was "not Duke material"!

Your experience and knowledge on the subject are appreciated.

I have a 2.5 highschool GPA and scored a 22 on the ACT test.

I'm worried that I won't be able to get into a college.

BTW, I'm in no way interested in community college.

Thanks,

Ryan

I'm really REALLY having a hard time with my economics class right now and I still have time to drop the subject (get a "W"). But I'm worried this might look bad in my transcript when I'd be applying for a job in the future. Although, it IS better than getting an F right? Advice please, not lectures! =) And just an FYI, I had two D's in the past semester. So I hope right now I'm doing the right thing.

Well i have been confused when people say 8 years. Do they mean 8 total or a total of 14. And also do you have to go full time to get there in that period of time. I am not really educated in this field as one might see.

Prospective employers that pay high salaries and/or admit superlative grads in prestigious institutions, i.e. think tanks & government/business positions.

Will the impression help with these following distinctions on the diploma:

Summa c'um laude

Magna c'um laude

C'um laude

The 'higher' the distinction, the more prestigious in picking the pool of candidates with similar honors (including simply 'c'um laude') for the demanding yet luxurious job position?

Do "egregia c'um laude" and "maxima c'um laude" exist at some American universities that issue diploma with one of these distinctions?

Would prestigious universities (Ivy League, MIT, Stanford, Cambridge, Oxford) accept older (non-traditional age 29 & up) American students who have attained very good (GPA 3.7) to superior (4.0) GPA straight from public university after years of diligent study & academic skill retaining plus prerequisite ACT or SAT to be admitted as graduates or transfer in the "third or fourth" year?

Does it depend on the strictly rigorous admission policy of each educational institution that may require evidence of volunteering and extracurricular activities common among traditional students?

I am interested in RIT or Columbia University as a "future graduate student" who have rebound from flunking out high school (passed GED in '97 but barely) and transfer to a state public university from community college after 3-6 years (student alternating between PT & FT depending on family, jobs & economic sustainability).
