You'll get good jobs in accounting but don't discount biology. With biology you can teach middle-high school, or if you live in a small college town you can go for your doctorate and become a professor. With biology you can also always go for an MPH - Masters of Public Health, you can focus on epidemiology (study of infectious diseases etc), biostatistics, international health, etc. or you can go into physical therapy or research. There are almost always jobs available in health fields.

Granted, most of the best jobs will require a master's degree, while with accounting you might find it easier to get a job with a bachelor's degree and even better options once you become a Certified Public Accountant.

Go with what you find most interesting because that's what's going to help you make money since you'll be more passionate about it and it'll give you a sense of fulfillment later on.

If you like both fields, why not major in Bio & minor in Acctg., then get a part-time Acctg. job during college or temp during the summers? You'll get the experience that an employer will want. Then you'll be able to choose what you want to do with more flexibility.

Accountants are a dime a dozen, but the truth is that accountants can get jobs anywhere, as long as you're willing to settle for a fairly low income.

CPAs can get higher paying jobs, not just in public accounting, but the years devoted to the qualification, and the continual up-keep for the designation may or may not be worth it to you.

Have you already chosen a small town? There are many companies with research plants located in or just outside small towns, all across the country. If you haven't chosen your desired living destination, just remember that companies move in and out of areas often.

Government contractor and biotech firms always need cross-over personnel, too.
