I want to know how you specialize to become a gynecologist. I know its weird for me to ask but its a high-paying job and i am just wondering because i am choosing my major for my bachelors degree.

What pathway would you take? please give me a serious answer about what bachelors degree and what masters degree i would need and if there is a specific program for gynecology or if its just a branch of a sort etc. thankyou

Yes the pay is potentially high. So are the malpractice insurance premiums (especially if your practice includes obstetrics). Look into that -- seriously.

You go to college and get all As. Take chemistry, biology, or biochemistry. Forget the masters degree. It's pointless.

Then you go to medical school.

Then you take residency and specialize in gynecology. By the time you get to medical school you'll understand all of that. You might also have broadened your interests and explored other options.

Gynecology is a medical specialty. You must be a Medical doctor before you specialize.

So, four years undergrad, then four year of med school to get your MD, then a residency in Gyn-OB for 3 to 5 years. Then you are ready for practice.

When you get to college, go see the pre-med advisor right away and they will explain exactly what courses you need and how to get ready for the vitally important MCAT tests.

For more information about med school apps check out several websites that you can search online. The website of the American Association of Colleges of Medicine and some websites done by kids applying to med school - I think one is called medschoolready or something like that...

Good Luck with that eleven years of training thing!

You need to earn your M.D. as in Medical Doctor.

Four years of college ~~~ probably in microbiology or the like, 4 years of medical sckool, then "X" years internship, One or Two year residency and you can hang out your shingle.
