Software - November 2007

I'm trying to edit a movie file that I made using my digital camera and I'd rather not buy QuickTime Pro. But Windows Movie Maker won't recognize the .mov file. Suggestions? File converters? Other software? Thanks.

Hi, how do i go about putting a video from utube onto a powerpoint presentation? I want to put a clip of a rocket launch to show to the kids on a space lesson i am givving. I cant simpy hyperlink to the site as i think utube site is blocked by the school server! lol So how can i do this???? thanks

I bought this cable named "USB 2.0 cable device" after someone from Challenger shop recommend me, but now he also don't know which software they have to use to connect laptop with desktop.

Spybot seems working well but often demanding (particularly when or after some softwares are downloaded) to ALLOW or DENY the change. I don't know what to do? Can I allow the change?

And what are possible solutions? Why does it say: "The Microsoft Office Template and Media ActiveX Control has failed to install. To try installing again, click Retry. To continue to use the site without the control, click Continue". It will not let me get past this.

When I was a kid, we used to have to wait ages for a cassette tape to load-then Atari came along.
30 years later, and I have to wait over 5 minutes to get on line. Is it annoying for you?

When we got our IMac the guy told us that the Iwork and the office for Mac was EXACTLY the same, the imac was half the price of the other one and they were the same right? Now I got a new job and we work ALL DAY with excel and the freaking iwork is NOT the same!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
is there any way to get for free? i got the 30 days already but i want to have it forever without buying it since i bought the iwork for 80 bucks.

So when I go to watch a video (Gamespot/Youtube) it tells me to get the latest version of flash player. All these things worked perfectly befor but now they dont. and I go to the link and do the stuff that the web page tells me to do to install it and it says it's installed but Still i go and videos dont work. It also says to reeboot the computer if it don't work but I dont know how to do that. So any ideas on how to fix my Computer?

I have a powerpoint with a few sound files, and they are all .wav. For some reason, they are being linked to instead of embedded. I want the powerpoint to work on another computer, but it won't work unless it is embedded, and I don't want to bring the separate sounds with me. I know powerpoint supports embedded .wav so why isn't it working?

I am no good with fixing computers. This msg keeps popping up, and I can not use my computer. Its a black screen MOCKING ME! Even in safe mode I cannot use it. What does this mean and how can i fix it?

I was doing a paper, then I went to save it and microsoft word closed. Then I opened microsoft word again, and it recovered it.
But when I tried to save it again, it closed again. So when I tried to open word again, it didn't recover my paper.

Now when I try to open something on word, it closes.

File permission error when trying to save a ms-word doc to my hard drive?
Why would I get a file permission error when trying to save a ms-word doc to my hard drive?
THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY TIME I save, but it has happened with more than one document. I do not get anything like this when I'm backing up to an external hard drive using maxtor one touch. Only when I'm saving an individual document that has already been saved earlier, before additional changes.
