I am looking at making a new PC well a new case, motherboard, CPU, and CD drive. But I plan on moving my old HD (which has all my data and my OS on it) from my old PC to my new one. I read somewhere that Windows will not recognize this as the same system and I will have to buy a new license. Is this true?

Don't you hate those pesky software updates?

Don't you hate it when it seems every single day Firefox browser wants to install a new update. Every time you open a PDF file Adobe reader bugs you to install rev 15.0.0.x, and two days later yet another revision arrives. And then you have the perpetual Microsoft stream of security fixes. It seems as if we're always being asked to rebooting our systems or restart our programs, because the software developers at these companies cannot release a stable product.

Don't you hate this? All we want to do is work on the machine.

Windows XP sucks big time. And Vista is too slow. This is the last straw and I am done with Microsoft. Can you guys give me some tips on how to install Linux? And another question. I have two other Hard Drives on my pc. After installing Linux, do I have to reformat those harddrives or will they be recognized? Or should i back up everything on dvds? Thanks.

I posted a question a few weeks ago and only got one answer and it didn't really help. I need to download The Rosetta Stone, the Spain Spanish version, Level's 1, 2 and possibly 3.
It would help if someone provided step-by-step instructions on how to download them. Thank you.

I have a friend who is very old and does not see the sense in buying a new PC and so is running Windows 98SE without WinZip.

I am trying to get him onto broadband and have needed to download some zipped files from his ISP in order to get the modem to work.

I can only seem to find the latest version of WinZip (11.1) for download for a free trial which will be ideal coz he'll only need it this one time.

What I need to know is if Windows 98SE will support this, as the WinZip site is crap and doesn't tell you anything other than V.11.1 now works well with Vista!!!

I currently am using the Network Manager to observe network utilization, but am finding myself in need of knowing the current resource usage of my CPU and RAM. While staring at the task manager works, I'm curious as to whether or not there is something that will log the usage to the system resources.

Okay,my computer teacher is saying that the answer to her question:"Which operating system runs on an other kind of hardware?" is DOS.
Assuming that we're using the Windows OS family today(...sorry to the fanboy) ,wouldn't the answer Unix be more plausible?
Thanks for making it clear for me.

During the repair installation of XP, a message popped up saying "Windows could not load installer for WPD", and continued installing after I pressed "ok". Then, it rebooted, and then I get a blue screen with this error - "stop 0x0000007b (0xF7986528, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)". What does it mean and how can I fix it? I searched the whole net for answers to no avail, I hope someone here will be smart and kind enough to answer. Thanks a lot.
