I have a powerpoint with a few sound files, and they are all .wav. For some reason, they are being linked to instead of embedded. I want the powerpoint to work on another computer, but it won't work unless it is embedded, and I don't want to bring the separate sounds with me. I know powerpoint supports embedded .wav so why isn't it working?

Yes I know how to insert the file, the problem is, it is not embedding, it is simply linking, and playing off the real file meaning another computer couldn't play it.

Never mind, I solved the problem by allowing a greater storage capacity on the powerpoint for embedded files.

Hi,

There's a setting that needs to be adjusted. By default PowerPoint embeds files smaller than 100k but links to larger files.

Change the setting to a number that's higher than the size of your wav file.

To find the setting on Mac PowerPoint use the "PowerPoint" menu and choose Preferences. On the "General" tab choose "Link Sounds With File Size Greater Than " and change the number.

In Windows PowerPoint I think you get to PowerPoint's preferences using Tools > Options.

Where did you access these .wav files? are they saved to your computer? If so, you should be able to embed them by doing the following:

click on "insert"
click on "movies and sound"
click on "sounds from file"

mostly because power point is a jurk. try converting them to wmp (even though i hate the file type) I know power point can play all of them, wav files can be encoded wrong and then power point goes "what is this.... oh well *skip*"
