It means a system file has been corrupted. The only real fix in this particular situation is to do a "repair" from the Windows CD. When you boot your computer from the CD, Setup will check for previous installations, and give you the opportunity to repair them.

I would do two things:
1. Run antivirus software in Safe Mode.
2. Then, go for a Windows Repair
Here is information on both:
Restart your computer to get to Safe Mode:
>>>As soon as you see the system trying to load (it will probably be black and white)
>>>and before Windows tries to load,
>>>press and hold the F8 key.
>>>Continue holding it down until you see a black and white DOS menu. I think Safe Mode is F3.
Run your antivirus software.
Restart
Repair

lsass.exe is Local Security Authentication Server. It verifies your log on to your pc/server. Although it sounds like you have a worm, probably a execution program of the Sasser worm. Here is a site that can give you a pretty good way of dealing with it:

Use your system bootup disks (CD), reboot your computer from CD. Select fix/repair option from system disk, the broken dll should be taken care of.
