I have greeting cards software on my computer but when i tried to fit the cards into evenlopes (security and the long kind) they were too short height wise

You raised a new question for me. I don't know what people do who make their own cards. I doubt there is software to make them. You are talking about layout, folding, gluing, etc. Frankly, I'd rather buy some.

Do you have Microsoft Word? Just click on tools, then click envelopes/labels. (make sure it is on envelopes when it comes up)

You can go to options and pick different size & styles and make a new document to keep or just print one envelope from the original page.

Once you get there, you'll figure it out.

Have you tried Microsoft Office suite applications? Such as Microsoft Publisher? you can make envelopes, brochures, cards, flyers and much more with it.
