I recently discovered how to look at and edit the things that open at system start up... and when I went to stop some programs from starting up, I noticed a few things that worry me.

There are two different items that worry me most.

One of the start up "programs" has no name, and no location, so I have no idea what it is...

The other one is named ctfmon, and its located in the System32 folder. In my experience this folder is where viruses and Trojan's like to put themselves.

So, the question is; what are these things, and should I be worried?

I was wondering if there was a way to monitor my wifes email account at work or at least get her password without actually installing something on her computer at work. Is there a program that when I sent her an email and she opened it it would atomatically start to monitor her so that I could get her yahoo login and password. Thanks

My computer has an up to date Norton Antivirus corporate addition, and windows defender, when I used both of them to scan my comp, both said it was virus free. BUT IT WASNT. Everytime I clicked the My Computer icon, or internet explorer this msiexec proccess pops up, in a little window and prompts me to install Adobe 7.0!!??

WTF

And theirs nothing you can do about it except to keep on clicking the cancel button and opening up task maneger to force terminate the msiexec procces.

I tried to delete this msiexec thing from the system 32 files but it keeps on magically reapearing after i delete it, and i've tried to quarenteen it with Norton, but to no avail.

I'm sort of getting desparate here.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks!!!

Are there any antivirus programs that kills viruses such that it won't show up again, even after you restart the computer? i just got a number of viruses here in my pc that got discovered just today (by AVG, but not by Windows defender). the problem is that AVG pops a window with a virus detection and lets you decide on what to do with it. i ran a scan and discovered around 10 of them, healed them, then restarted the pc. again, the viruses were back and now i quarantined them. i'm afraid that if i restart again, the same thing will happen (i think a program loading when the os starts causes this problem), as if there was no scan that happened previously. Is there an antivirus that will actually KILL it and REMOVE IT PERMANENTLY (even if it means causing the infected file to be removed PERMANENTLY)? Please recommend some even if it means professional (or paid) versions... or does it really mean that the only solutions are the last resorts like registry editing and reformatting??

I have 3 viruses on my PC and AVG has put them all in the quarantine section does this stop the virus from working and spreading or should i delete them from AVG does deleting them delete the virus or delete them from the quratine section, leting them back on your pc?? (So basicly if i press delete on the virus in quratine will it delete the virus of my pc for good or does it let it back out to run on my computer?)

I cant sign in to check my hotmail email. I've entered my usual password with no spelling mistakes but it keeps saying incorrect password. I've tried to reset my password be sending an email message to my alternative email but that email has not come for days, I've checked in the junk mail folder too. I've also tried to answer my secret question but I forgot the answer to it. I believe that someone hacked into my acount, changed my password so i cannot login, my alternative email address and the answer to my secret question. I've contacted MSN about this but they have not replied for days. Please help!

I set up my daughter's computer with a password so that I could monitor when she used her computer. Now I forgot what password I used, and I didn't enter a hint when I set it up. There is only one user account on her computer, and its the admin. How can I log onto that computer?
