I recently discovered how to look at and edit the things that open at system start up... and when I went to stop some programs from starting up, I noticed a few things that worry me.

There are two different items that worry me most.

One of the start up "programs" has no name, and no location, so I have no idea what it is...

The other one is named ctfmon, and its located in the System32 folder. In my experience this folder is where viruses and Trojan's like to put themselves.

So, the question is; what are these things, and should I be worried?

Hi. ctfmon is a necessary file http://support.microsoft.com/kb/282599
I have seen the blank startup file but never tried to disable it. So I won't advise you.

(1) If you have not already scanned your comp with spybot do that now .Update it and then run it so it gets rid of all the spyware and trojans in safe mode
(2) Do an online virus scan to check if you still have any other viruses in your computer. And let us know if the online virus scan still finds any virus or spyware .

If you still have problems you will need expert Spyware, Popup, and Hijacker removal assistance, do not hesitate to
then visit the HijackThis Logs and Analysis forum.
