I set up my daughter's computer with a password so that I could monitor when she used her computer. Now I forgot what password I used, and I didn't enter a hint when I set it up. There is only one user account on her computer, and its the admin. How can I log onto that computer?

Log in as administrator and go to Control Panel > User Accounts, select her account... from there you can change the password.

If you cannot log in to the administrator account, reboot, press F8 after the POST check, and boot to Safe Mode... this will give you the option of choosing the Administrator account and from there you can follow the instructions listed above.

If you are unable to log in as administrator, you can look for a tool called ERD Commander. It's a bootable disc that will allow you to fix just about any thing wrong with Windows including changing passwords.

Start the computer in safe mode, in safe mode you can enter the control panel then enter user accounts then delete the password...use your daughters name.....I did and mine never figured it out because it was so obvious.

.or sometimes you can open the tower and remove the battery, it looks like a quarter...and then start the computer..the password should have been erased....

go to the graphical clickable log on screen
with the cool icon and stuff
then go there click ctrl+alt+delete twice
you will get the other type of login screen
generally type in Administrator
and leave the password as blank
usually it will be blank unless you have set it
try it and let me know

and go to control panel
and go to users and reset the password

safe mode maybe..but unlikely. It will most likely prompt you for the password again. System recovery is an option. Or getting in touch with Microsoft. My suggestion, learn to trust your daughter.

If you gave her admin rights, just logon as her and reset your password.
