i took computer programing in middle school. nothing major just little stuff. having said that, i know that it takes a fair amount of script, and therfore a fair amount of time to make a small program.i'm not sure exactly how viruses are made, but i'm pretty sure it takes a long time and a lot of typing, and i'm just wondering what kind of geek has that much time on their hands? and... do you think the protection services, like norton are in on it so thay can keep selling their product? just like to hear what you think.

I have VirusScan for McAfee Security center, and when I try to scan it says some components are missing. So I did the McAfee Live Technician, and it said that I have missing files not only for VirusScan, but for my firewall, etc. But the problem is, McAfee Security Center came with my PC, so I don't know how I can reinstall it. HELP!

What sort of proof is available for this? Wikipedia says it is stored on the actual chip, but cites no sources.

This may be mainly a UK question, although I imagine many countries use the 'chip and PIN' format. I am not refering to the magnetic strip on cards.

I don't trust alot of them. AOL is the one I trust the least. I don't really give a **** if they are looking at my files or whatever. I just don't like it when people do it without your permission. These companies have no right to your personal info. And those who do so should be hit with criminal charges accordingly. If I remember right: AOL has already been busted for this once. I mean if you want to look at file systems why not ask first? You would be very suprised about what people would say!

I think it's possible that I have picked up a Trojan Horse opening a web address today. I did the scan with my AVG antivirus ware and everything seemed to be taken care of except now I keep getting a system alert (yellow sign) telling me I need to download additional virus protection and offers me a couple of choices. My question: Is this a legitimate alert? Is it possible that AVG didn't take care of the Trojan? If it did and these alerts are bogus, how then do I get rid of the alerts?

Thank you
