Hi people, I have started a new job and it's a very small team and I am supposed to have access to the internet however I have a problem that is stopping me from enabling me to do the job properly, when I open I.E (its XP I am using) the company intranet page opens but when i open a website it asks for username and password which I don't have then it says 407 Proxy and gives me an error, is there anyway to override this so it doesn't ask, normally the I.T team would assist me well the one person who does the IT but he is off on long term sick and no one is being appointented in his place (which yes will cause problems if any serious computer problems occour! but that company is tight with money what can i say!) Any help would be appreciated other than to pack the job in and get a decent one with some support!

bought a computer with Norton installed. Now I want to uninstall it and nothing works. I tried the add/remove programs and it just sits there and does nothing. Please help, I"m desperate!

When searching online, or downloading any thing, movies, any thing, can it get a virus on your psp, and eventually mess it up, or either get the virus from the psp, and then goes thru to the computer?

whenever i use any program that uses comand prompt, then my computer shuts down...like when i make programs in visual c++ and run it..the computer shuts down..how can i fix this problem...ive even tried formating but it didnt work.

My laptop has a bootleg copy or windows installed on it. once my friend tried updating it on microsoft's website they saw that it wasnt a registered copy and threw some kind of bug on the computer that wont leave no matter how hard i try asking it. i have no money to buy a real copy so ive been looking into a site that offers endless versions. one of which is entirely free and even comes w/ volunteer tech support. ive never used anything but windows in my life. whats the drawback to installing the linnux. i basicly only use the lap top for internet and email. but i also update a website with it. or at least plan to once i figure out how. what about just wiping out the bug microsoft put on my com. ? HELP!!!!

ive have just started using second life (well once) today when i tried to sign in it's saying it needs to be updated. my firewall is asking if i will allow this aplication and as its coming up as dffaf15f ect and not as "secondlife" im unsure if i should allow it...what do you think? thanks in advance

There are about 10 "programs" showing up in my add/remove programs list called "Windows XP Hotfix" followed by the letters KB. I don't remember seeing them before. Can i delete them? Thanks for your help...

I've been using the Cox Communications anti-virus security suite for about a year and have never had a problem with it. Today I got a windows security error warning and this is what it says:

"This problem was caused by Authentium Security Firewall/Antivirus driver (grtdimon.sys)."

what do i do about this and what does it mean? Thanks for the help...

My computer won't allow me to bring up secured sites (https://). What can I do? I tried adding it to my trusted sites, but still I am having issues. Anybody in the world got a resolution for this.
I am trying to check my work email from my home pc. I have the address correct. It is the freaking malfunctioning computer. OH, I would love to just kick it right now.
I am asking again because the other two answers did not work.

I used to have spyspotter and of course it was not free so I bought it and used it, it was really usefull, and now it's expired and don't want to renew licience or buy another one, but I do need such software, my PC is running slow, so if anyone has such one and willing to transfer it to me or know where I can find a free software such as on the web. your contribution will be appreciated.
