There are about 10 "programs" showing up in my add/remove programs list called "Windows XP Hotfix" followed by the letters KB. I don't remember seeing them before. Can i delete them? Thanks for your help...

cheers,
Shauna!

I definitely won't delete them. I haven't updated my computer in quite awhile, so it said i had 64 updates! 64! it took quite a bit of time, but everything seems to be working ok now. Thanks for the help and suggestions! : )

Dont delete them. Most likely those are files that get updated automatically for your xp regular ugrade....if you even noticed little exlamation point in a yellow circle next to you time toolbar it means automatic upgrades are installing. That is showing up on your add/remove programs list as a program package. I just checked mine and even though i dont have hotfix update on it i see stuff like MSXML 4.0 SP2 its like a package that get installed automatically to have your computer system a lil more advanced.

Now if it does come out to be some spam (you can find out if you highlight that hotfix line and click on a active link saying Click here for support information! See who it belong to when it comes to Make. If its Windows XP stuff or Michrosoft you have noting to worry about. ) Now if it is not then click remove. Follow steps to remove it by uninstalling the whole thing with its subfolders. The to double check ran virus/spyware check see if anything familiar pop up as a result. Last thing you can do to make sure its complitely gone out of your system is to go local disk (C:) , double click on Program Files folder and scroll down for a folder with a XP Hotfix tag, IF its still there. And you are good to go.

Don't delete them as these are from the Windows update and yu're better off with them as they fix bugs and security holes etc.

If you look at the top of the "Add and Remove Programs", just above the list of programs, you'll see a tick box which sayd "Show Updates". Untick it and these hotfixes will no longer appear in the list.

You should never delete programs you are not familiar with. Odds are they are updates or fixes. If you want to free up some space, just delete programs you do not use very often
