Since my computer keeps on crashing, and I cant use System Restore, can I possibly install a Anti Virus program from when I turn on my computer? Such as running it off a CD-ROM and being able to install, and scan before reaching a desktop? Or scan in safe mode?

I have been looking at these sites that guarantee to remove all evidence on my computer to where it can never be pulled up again. I want to do this just in case there is any information I have entered through the computer that will allow a hacker to get a hold of my credit card information. This really concerns me because my ex told me that he was a computer hacker and that he could get any information from my computer that he wanted? I tried to download a program but it was very expensive. Can this be done for free?

I am not looking for software, nor do I have problems paying for it, I just hear a lot about free antivirus applications and I am skeptical about wether or not they actually work.

I wonder if the magnetic key card safe. When you turn them in at the front desk your personal imformation is there for any employee to access by simply scanning the card in the motel scanner. An employee can take a handful of cards home and using a scanning device, access imformation onto a laptop computer and go shopping at your expense. Simply put hotels do not erase imformation on these cards until an employee re-issues the card to the next motel guest.Should I keep card and take it home and destroy it by cutting it. If I do this can they charge me for a lost card.So my question is how safe are these cards.
