If it just goes to the log-in screen and no programs are running, then it is a safe bet there is a problem with your power switch, and it's not a security issue. You should get your laptop serviced

ok first make sure you haven't made the auto turn on choice( in the control panel) then check your security settings and firewall AND THE ANTIVIRUS PROGRAM make sure you use these security programs especially firewall for you and antivirus then check the computer for another night. if it still turns up go in safe mode and check all the security settings. After all this if it still turns on you have to go to your manufacturer or to the copyright protection place(must be in your city or town or somewhere near). If it is a hacker then he might open something called the command prompt and/or open and delete some files of yours.

Well, have a good day mate. I hope it solves your problem.

Yes, it could be. Hackers can still access backdoors in your PC even you have the power turned off. Maybe there's also problems on the electrical circuit your laptop, my bet that it is the electric condensator, maybe the electric condensator release the energy it had saved at the wrong time. (when you already turn it off) And it could be viruses, trojans, spywares, etc.) I suggest you use good antivirus, antispywares, and good antihacker program. I suggest you use McAffe or Kaspersky Lab AV.

McAffe has good firewall, but it's antivirus is not as good as Kaspersky AV. Kaspersky Internet Security is a little worse than McAffe, because Kaspersky IS is very difficult to configure. But in terms of performance, both in AV and in IS Kaspersky is better.

But in terms of user friendliness, McAffe is FAR MORE FRIENDLY.

So, to conclude, my suggestions is that get an antivirus, good firewall, check your electrical conduits, get good antispyware, check your power adaptor, if it still happens and you think that you can't have it anymore just FORMAT it.

It's impossible for a hacker to control a computer that is turned off, since a computer, without power, cannot connect to the internet. It's most probable that your laptop is broken.

If the computer was turn OFF not sleep, then the only thing I can think of is that you have a ghost.
If the computer is on but the screen is dark then the mouse could have bean wiggled, or there is something on the keyboard.

Don't be fooled ... hackers can still access a system even if it is switched of. Try downloading NetStumbler, and that will show you who is accessing your system.

To be sure no-one is getting in, unplug the phone line from your socket (the one to your hub).

Wireless is very convenient, but it is very vunerable to outside visitors.

It may be that you have a trojan on board, Do an online scan from BitDefender, and that will show you if you have been infected.
