Security - February 2007

My sister and I were Instant Messaging through Yahoo. She couldn't get her Yahoo avatar to change so she sent me her password so I could change it for her. Shortly after that, someone started changing her avatar, as we were talking it kept changing, and neither of us were doing it. Was someone able to get her password from our IM conversation? I told her to go change her password, which she did, and we'll never give something like a password while IM'ing again. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a way to find out for sure if it was a hacker, and whose computer they were hacking into?

Is there any place inside my computer that keeps passwords?
I am having a hard time with those "alternative emails", "security questions"... Because most of them I have forgotten, since this never happened to my puter.

Is there any file or "dunnohowtocallit" place inside my computer that i can find passwords?

I have NTL netguard and it keep popping up saying it cannot delete Kazaa, I have scanned my computer with Ad-Aware and that does not find Kazaa, on the NTL netguard pop up it tells me to go to http://sw.freedom.net/portal/swportal?partnerid=25&lang=en&component=spyware&spyware=kazaa&option=removal ,, and i can not make sesne of what it tries to tell me, it says I have to delete some "hkey" but I do not know how to get to this,

All help will be greatly appreciated, I do not understand why Ad-Aware doesn't see it and delete it for me??????

It seems to work OK, and it scans REALLY fast, but I have never heard of it before, and the guy that put it on here doesn't know anything about it either. Has anyone out there heard of it, and if so, what do you think about it ? Is it a good program, or should I go back to Spybot?

I am trying to remove a virus from my mom's Windows XP machine. If I boot it normally, it blue screens a few seconds after Windows loads. It won't boot in Safe Mode. Is there anything else I can try?

I have just uninstalled AOL active virus shield because I was not sure if it was any good because alot of people on here said it was ****.Now I downloaded the Kaspersky antivirus and it looks exactly the same except the names are different and you have to pay for the Kaspersky.

Soo what is the differance between the 2 ?

I am going to spend several months at a vacation home. I do my banking and bill pay via the internet. If I use a public computer (internet cafe) is the data I enter in danger of retrieval by others via hidden files in the computer? My bank requires password/private questions and item recognition as part of the log-in process.

My trial period ended with the MacAfee protection installed on my new computer.Now I want to uninstall it and ude a new type of firewall and antivirus. I am running Windows XP and I know not to install and run a second firewall without removing the old one. Can any help me out as to how I uninstall all of the MacAfee protection so I can get my new stuff up and running. ok wheni play my halo games in my pc i get gathering exception data, when i click on a folder it wont go on it,when try to delete a folder it takes like 3 tries to delete it,when i click start i dont see my shortcuts their gone not the one from all programs,when i use Task Mageneger i went to the process tab it sows 0 process but iknow thier is a process but it doesnt show!!!please help me my computer is getting messed up from this dam virus
