The 30 day Trial and Pay version provides full time protection and will block spyware from being installed. Even this version will find stuff that is allow on the computer like Third Party cookies. These are allowed because they are not considered as Spyware. Do as the program recommends and delete them.

The Free version only works when you perform a scan with it. It then tells you what it finds and recommends an action for you to do. I suggest you do what it recommends by clicking the button a the bottom.

Third Party cookies should be blocked from entering your computer. Go to Tools>Internet Options>Privacy tab>Advanced button>check the box for "Autimatic Cookies">in Third Party cookies dot the Block>Click OK>OK.

You need to other programs

1)Download install and scan your computer with Spybot - Search & Destroy which can detect and remove a multitude of adware files and modules from your computer.

2) Install and run spywareblaster
# Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted software.
# Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
# Restrict the actions of potentially unwanted sites in Internet Explorer.

There are 2 versions of many anti-spy ware programs. The "free" version does a scan for spy ware when you ask for it. The version you buy offers CONTINUOUS protection, that is it blocks the spy ware before it can even get into your system. I have used both (when I ran Windows). I now use Linux for email and websurfing so I don't worry about spy ware and viruses as much any more.

I think you have to run it to see if you have spyware or viruses.. and it won't take out all spyware...

I personally prefer ZoneAlarm Security Suite (not free but not too expensive) with a Firewall, Virus detector/scanner, spyware scanner.. you can find a link to it on my web-page http://www.tom-olsen.com/links.html

I've began using it after using spybots for some time. I haven't any complaints. I just delete the ones it finds.
