My trial period ended with the MacAfee protection installed on my new computer. Now I want to uninstall it and ude a new type of firewall and antivirus. I am running Windows XP and I know not to install and run a second firewall without removing the old one. Can any help me out as to how I uninstall all of the MacAfee protection so I can get my new stuff up and running. Please use layman terminology and instructions because so much of this changing programs thing is Greek to me. Thanks alot.

Just go Start,Settings,Control Panel,Add or Remove programs and select everything that has McAfee in it on the list, click Remove. Reboot your PC and you're done. If you want to be absolutely sure that McAfee is removed, download CCleaner here http://www.ccleaner.com/ and run it. It's free and works great for removing all leftovers from an uninstallation routine.

Start/Control Panel/Add Remove Programs.
You find McAfee in the list uninstall it.
OR
C:/Program Files/McAfee/uninstall.exe

When you uninstall McAfee, McAfee's firewall will be history.

I have Norton AV. Norton, also, comes with a firewall. You don't want to run two firewalls because they will conflict with each other.

I disabled Norton's firewall and enabled Window XP's. I feel that Windows will load before anything else therefore it (hopefully) will be my second-best protection - the first protection being me and my common sense.
