I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.
These are cleanup tools. Ad-aware cleans files, and SpyBot cleans the registry. Just plain POPUP BLOCKERS only hide the real problem.
The threats change as time goes on. There is NO BEST. A diversity of solution, and information sharing between different anti-spyware providers would make the whole internet stronger. Diversity and collaboration is the best answer.

Advanced Spyware remover or Spyware doctor are good when you pay for it. Other then that all i can say the best one out there is ZoneLab. I dont know if peopel would agree but as a virus protector and spyware identifier its the best one i ever had and my buddies all agree.

I think the one which is easy to download and fast... then u should try yahoo spyware toolbar... Itz not a joke... If u want more effective one,, but slower ; but makes pc free from spyware and adware .. then u should try spyware blaster...

AVG is 30 day trial for full version, after which you will have to manually get the updates.
Spyware Blaster, you will have to update manually all the time.
Both of these programs are recommended by HijackThis experts.

As for anti-spyware, I highly, highly suggest Windows Defender from Microsoft. (http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security...
Download that, update it and do a FULL SCAN.
Many people will argue saying you should use multiple anti-spyware programs. However, I disagree. using those two programs above, you'll be fully covered and they won't bog down your machine like others.

I have had spysweeper from webroot for over 2 years and have never had a problem. My best recommendation!
