I recently purchased an update to my Norton Internet Security Suite; when I attempted to install it, it wouldn't install, and when I attempted to uninstall the files that *did* get installed, that wouldn't work either. I've been using Norton since about 1999, and I've NEVER had problems before; the sudden onset of problems in a usually-reliable company tells me that they have some MAJOR bugs in their new package.
Since your computer is new, I would presume it has some sort of service agreement for at least the first year or so; I would contact HP and get them to help you uninstall the package. You can also try contacting Symantec, which is Norton's parent company; you may be entitled to support through their company since you have a computer with a new installation of the product. Good luck.

Try McAffee or Kalepsky (don't know how to spell the second). I heard Kalepsky was pretty good and doesn't slow you down. I have a 6 month HP w/Vista and Norton. I never notice any major slow down on my computer. Make it is the internet security and not your computer before you spend your hard earned money.
