Go to Grisoft.com and get AVG Free Edition 7.5 anti virus software.
It's free , it works very well, and has kept my computer virus free for 2-3 years. Since the free edition has no firewall, I use Windows Defender( goog & free). I also use SpyBot Search & Destroy anti spyware at Ewido.com( also is free & very good)

free.grisoft.com has AVG's free version of their virus software. It's nice, doesn't interfere with other programs, doesn't crash, and actually catches bugs. There is no reason to use anything else.

You may need a firewall, too. www.zonelabs.com, and download their FREE ZoneAlarm firewall (this takes a little searching). It's by far the best.
