The current version of CCleaner is v1.37.456 (released 02/01/07). If you are running an older version (press *Help* when the program's open and it should tell you which version you have installed), it is telling you that a later release is available.
CCleaner is freeware, so it won't cost you anything to upgrade to the latest version.

Good Luck!

I would like to point out there's a difference between "upgrade" and "update":

* Upgrade usually means moving to a higher level - for Yahoo Mail (for example) Upgrading your account means paying for extra services.

* Update means getting new information - like your anti-virus needing new ways to find viruses.

Considering Ccleaner's free and doesn't insist in any way that you "Upgrade" (pay for) it, I'm pretty sure it's asking you to "Update" it - something it NEEDS to do to work.

So... next time it has a pop-up... look for Update vs Upgrade.

Oh, and Ccleaner's a good choice! Make sure you have anti-virus and anti-spyware software that you use too. A firewall's also a good idea these days.

Anti-virus - ClamWin - http://www.clamwin.com/
Anti-spyware - Spybot Search & Destroy - http://www.spybot.info/en/mirrors/index.html
Firewall - Zonealarm (free) - http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp

CCleaner is always updating, so it should be ok for you to upgrade.
