Which password.. A Bios password. A windows password ???
Bios password - Unscrew the laptop and get to the circuitry.. Look for a watch Battery. (( if there's none )) Disreguard and tighten everything back up.
Windows password - Depending on Version,. XP - You might be able to enter the Admin account via the Windows safemode. From there.. You should be able to create a new account and thus use your computer. It means that you lose out on your documents and such. But.. Best shot at using your computer. Short of re-formatting everything.
ME or Lower - Unfortunately, I think you're screwed.. and need to reformat.

If it is a BIOS/CMOS bootup password, you need to have it professionally worked on. If it is the OS, you can get through that with a floppy disk.

I suggest that you contact your internet supplier/connector.
When you decided a password in the past, you had to answer certain questions. These questions will eventually lead you to your password. Your Internet supplier has this info and can help you.

Need laptop specs and I can tell you how to reset BIOS/CMOS to factory settings. Email apoomakbar@yahoo.com.
This is assuming that you are referring to pre-POST pwd, if XP the need hack or NDS for NT to edit .inf file.
