I'm getting emails to renew my website address, but I'm not sure this is the right company. I get phished all the time. How can I tell for sure? It's been 2 years since I renewed and I've changed companies once or twice, so that's why I'm not sure.

I'm Thinking of getting Panda or Comodo Firewall and Kaspersky Antivirus.I read on Cnet that people hated Symantec.I had a hard time uninstalling Zonealarm and it costs a lot of money to fix problems that occur with the firewall. Its like $30 per accident with the firewall and the same with Symantec that is after the one year subscription expires.I don't want a Firewall or Anitvirus that takes up a lot of CPU and Hard Disk Space. What expert computer websites know which Antivirus and firewalls are best besides pcmagazine.com and cnet.com.I have AVG Free edition,Spyware Doctor,Active Security Monitor,A-Squared AntiDialer,Adaware SE Professional, and Norton 2006 Firewall but its full feature expired.

We bought a floor model computer from best buy. For some reason it is not letting us down load any programs or have access to and gives us an error message of that we do not have access due to the fact we are not the administrator. We have even tried to get the computer in safe mode by tapping or pressing the f10(its f10 on our 2003 windows xp media editon) button does not work. We've also tried logging in as admin but it also doesn't work. It says kiosk on the username for log in and the password is not recognizalble. Best buy won't help unless we take it in. Please help! :(

My husband recently admitted to installing Spector Spyware on my PC - he says it is now off, but I have no way of confirming this. What can I use that will scan my PC to detect this sort of spyware? i.e. Sneakily installed and not via adware/internet. This particular spyware took snapshots of my screen at regular intervals, used keystroke monitoring and also alerted him whenever I sent/received an e-mail. Please help. Thanks

Am I the only one here who doesn't understand the computer enough to even tell someone what the problem is? All this high-tech jargon isn't helping one bit. I'm allowing my 'puter to be filled up with viruses and worms because I cannot understand one answer!!!!!

I'm too ingorant to know what I'm asking for. I had Trendsomething and it apparently turned off and I do not know how to turn it on again. Everyone shows me how to get to Windows Security, then tell me what I've already done, but nothing is working.

Where does Panda Software rank in the world of Internet Security? I heard that they were the 3rd biggest after McAfee and Norton. Is this correct?

I have Norton anti-virus. Norton says Mircosoft is a virus. I have contant pop-ups and ads for downloads for antiviruses, I don't want to buy Microsofts crap. I called Microsoft and they said it would be $59.00-$79.00 for them to clean it up over the phone. I am wondering if I have to have Mircosoft Internet Explorer to get on the internet. If not who should I get intsead of Mircosoft Internet Explorer?

it all happened when i tried to download a crack file..it infected my comp! i have 3 problems i need to solve.
1.my desktop background is now all black(altho desktop items are present) with a message at the bottom saying 'Your computer is in danger! Windows have detected spyware/adware infection etc'.

2.also i keep getting a message in the form of a balloon all the time saying 'your computer is infected! windows has detected spyware infection. you need specific spyware tools etc'

3.the other problem is, when i click ctrl+alt+del an error message says 'Task Manager has been disable by your administrator'..now im sure my administrator hasnt disabled anything, i think its the spyware/adware/virus thats doing this.

Finally, i have AVG Anti-spyware 7.5 and Avast antivirus installed. they detected several viruses and malware which i deleted, but still the above 3 problems are present. please HELP!!

I get to the page where it says to turn on virus protection. It just reads Off. I click on it, nothing. I click on Recommondation, I get Turn on your installed antivirus program. And that is where? Or get another antivirus program. I clicked on How? It opens to a website for purchasing one.

In updating a spread sheet, stored on a 3 1/2" floppy, while working off line, I lost / deleted the information from the disc. Is this just "gone", or is it filed someplace on my computer where it could be retrieved, saving me from having to recreate the document from scratch.

I have managed to get a worm that causes my computer to restart randomly. I have two different virus protections installed neither of which can find the bug. I have tried doing verious online scans(housecall, panda) but neither ever complete working. They either freeze, I get an error, or the continually work on the same thing, never moving onto the next step. Housecall found a few things but never got to the step where they "clean up" the things.
I don't want to wipe my hard drive becasue I have all my christmas pics on there from last christmas. Would that even fix the problem if that is what I end up doing? I really don't want to so that because I don't know how to setup my networking.
