Ps Do it need to have SP2 to install new version of Mcafee.

I have a Sony Vaio laptop, and I am currently trying to fix my fairly old Dell desktop to have a second computer in the house. Every time I start the computer up an alert comes up in the bottom right hand corner saying "Windows has detected your computer is infected with spyware, please click here to learn how to protect your computer". So I click on it, and nothing happens. I click off on the alert and it pops up 30 seconds later saying the same thing. I can't right click it to close it, and I already went through the security center to try and disable alerts, but this still comes up!! I've already scanned and protected my computer with McAfee, so thats not the problem. I'm about to throw this thing out the window, so if any of you guys have any idea how to get rid of this blasted alert, PLEASE let me know! Thanks!!

How do people like probation officers, police, etc, view what you have been looking at on your computer? What are the exact steps to see the website history for the entire computer?

that is password protected, the only way to do this without the password is to reset the password, if I then delete the account, will there be evidence that I have done this somewhere in the computer?

Why do so many people use P2P file sharing services when it's obviously wrong and illegal? (and dont say "because people are stupid")

How do you eneble them. A Westell Versalink 327W "hardwired" to one computer and a 2nd computer connected thru a USB wireless remote. If it can be done, will it conflict with any "resident/always running" Virus and Spyware protections?

My CD drive has failed and I am going to need to take my computer in to have it fixed. I have financial records and things of that nature that I don't want anyone to get there hands on. Is my data safe? Will Apple be going through the things on my hard drive? Should I back everything up and then do a secure erase on things?

I am a long time PC user and I am used to Dell who has you pull the hard drive before sending the computer off.

Can you trace someone by an ip address, to a physical area? I thought this was supposed to be difficult, involving the ip issuing company?
Reason for asking, on surfing, i come accross, by a redirect, pop up (though they are not technically pop ups, just redirected pages) that are are for dating. Nothing wrong with that, but they give my geographical area, such as find a date in "?town" (where i actually am) and ive come across these a year ago, with a more wider area,( a similar, near, larger city).
How can they get my location, initially roughly, but now, very precisely?
Its not a big deal...its just interesting to know how they know a pc's location. I use a router, and mcaffee self test, failed as my ip was "hidden" by a router?

I peform a scan using Spybot daily, and it keeps digging up a bunch of spyware. Even if I don't check any websites, the same malware appears each time I run Spybot. I suspect that there's some hidden software that is downloading this junk whenever I'm connected to the internet, but that may not be the case.

Does anyone have any advice to offer? Thanks!
