Err... You don't NEED to delete them. "Cookies" are bits of info stored on you computer by a website. They can be useful - they can contain your login info, your preferences, or your account information. You should delete cookies from websites that you don't visit regularly, or ones that you don't have a continuing relationship with. But - if you visit the website frequently (and it's a business - with a a published privacy policy that you agree with) you should leave the cookie on your computer to make your life easier.

Cookies are very small data files that sites you visit place on your computer so they can personalize your visits. For example, a site may place a date cookie and when you visit again they give you a message that says, "Welcome. Your last visit was on 00/00/00." Cookies generally cause no harm and take up very little space and do not slow your computer down in any way. Sometimes, however, they might gather info about you that you don't want collected--e.g., a porno site might welcome you back and you don't want your parents to know (this is if you're a boy). In that case, you may want to delete your cookies. Just access the Tools Menu, Options, Privacy tab and select your cookie preference. You can delete cookies every time you close your browser, or other options. If you have a good security system, like Avast, they'll catch any bad cookie makers and delete them for you, but regular run-of-the-mill cookies do no harm.

.
PANDAK is absolutely right.

Cookies are only a couple kb in size at best.
They make logging onto sites faster.
They can make it unnecessary to login-in each time you visit.
A good method you will get the best results
is to
1. Get rid of all cookies
2. Immediately log into your sites you prefer to HAVE a cookie on your pc for your convenience
3. Then periodically go to your cookie cache and click the date column heading (which will arrange the cookies by date of log in) and only delete the most recent surfing cookies, while leaving your initial cookies you want installed.

If you are concerned about space, do delete your temp files, and you should consider uninstalling windows messenger, and other programs that you do not use frequently.

If you are having problems with speed, you can change your pc setting to increase your paging/swap file so that you can use hard drive free space (ROM) as RAM on demand.

Hope this helps
