How do you eneble them. A Westell Versalink 327W "hardwired" to one computer and a 2nd computer connected thru a USB wireless remote. If it can be done, will it conflict with any "resident/always running" Virus and Spyware protections?

I don't think any routers have anit-malware protection because malware is just an application that gets installed and does bad things. Unless the router's able to scan your machine (which I've never heard of) then it wouldn't be able to prevent such applications from running.

Maybe you mean the firewall that's built-in and can protect attacks?

Anyhow, here's the manual for the router you mention and it has a lot of settings to choose from that can make your network more secure: http://westell.com/content/sales/327W.pdf

Router never conflict's with any internal softwares. Router is an additional firewall which doesn't conflict with internal firewall. Anyways it protects against hackers and is better than all possible software firewalls. I don't think if it does protect against Malwares as malwares often comes from sites and a firewall may or maynot prevent malware from sites. But it sure wud prevent trojans, spyware or malware from contacting their servers to communicate.
