Is this Windows XP? Was your account the first account created on this computer? If it was the first account, you should have 'administrator' rights to the system. In which case, you could view files in the locked directory without anyone really knowing.

Now that I better understand your question, many of the forensics tools available to law enforcement are not really available to the general public (and can be extremely expensive). These things basically make a copy of your system if they can sneak in for a minute and then they can analyze the copy off-site without you really knowing.

Outside of that, there are some more indirect methods of finding information going forward that don't necessarily require access to the account. You might not be able to see what has happened, but you can see what is happening.

Wow, snooping on your wife or male partner? You can't just tap into their files, then again calmly ask what is your pet's name, the show you view with a hero in it as a child, and what was the name of your high school again. Do not forget to ask, and where were u born? Perhaps then, u will have enough information to tap.

If you delete the account then there will be evidence that it was accessed and deleted. but you could use siw(system information for windows) and use the windows 9.x password cracker in siw and find the password saved in the windows folder and crack it with the program.

People misunderstood and started answering about yahoo accounts!! lol

You can log into your computer as administrator. (usually no passpord unless explicitly put.

From there go to c:\Documents and settings

you can view folders of all the people with accounts on that machine. And you can open them and view their files.

Don't misuse this information please.
