(1) Also do an online virus scan to check what other viruses you have in your computer. If it still finds virus and spyware .
(2) Download hijackthis
(3) Post the hijackthis log on the hijackthis forum for the hijackthis experts to take a look

Explorer uses ActiveX software of Windows, that allows snooping and pop ups. Run latest version of Explorer

Better yet, Use the browser FirefoxMozilla its free and doenst use Active X, And it is much safer due to that very point. Its blocker works well.

You need IE to upgrade your Mcaffee or Norton and to upgrade windows with that Active X component That allows them to literally take over your computer and reprogram files and delete files ect. However that very feature also allows criminals to insert things like Trogan Horses virues and ever Key Loggers which literally overtake your computer and change files and so on. Something negitive.

Keep both IE and FirefoxMozella, and use Firefox it has no Active X is safer due to that very point.

View Active X , Go to Security, you will see Active X boxes in there to inactive. Dont inactivate it, or you wont have upgrades, so you see why you need IE.
