I have a motherboard with 2 733 Mhz processors. Does that mean that my computer has 1.46 Ghz of processing power (ie enough for vista) or does it mean that my computer still only has 733mhx of processing power.

As i said i was wondering if it's enough for vista so it overall thats what im wondering.

Thanks

I have decided to build a new computer but being on a limited budget i don't want to spend more than i have to at first. I wanted to get a crossfire motherboard but only buy one graphics card, buying a second card when i had some more money. Having looked on a few websites i can't find any information on whether the computer would work with just the one card, i assume it will but want to be sure before i buy. Can anyone help?

Hi all,

My computer started making a funny noise about 2 days ago. It's been resting ever since but I did turn it on long enough to try and locate the sound. I think it's coming from my hard drive. Is this possible? If so, what do I do? Simply buy a new hard drive or is all my valuable info on there and if it is how do I transfer it to the new hard drive?

FYI there is the possibility that I didn't find the right part making noise. I have terrible directional hearing. It's a hard noise to explain too.

Thanks in advance!

i am just mid way through on my spare p.c using n-tune to do a fine tune(approx 3 hours)
has anyone ever used this utility before,i have 2 hours to go and allready its increased my f.s.b from 133mhz to 141mhz and the agp from 66mhz to 72 mhz
its also changed memory timings
however i must admit i,m the biggest anti-overclocking p.c user, but what i like about n-tune is its stable enviroment, and its designed by the nvidia...need i say more
any views on ntune guys!

Hi.

Currently I have 2 hard drives installed on my machine. Both of them 7200rpm. 80gb used for storage and 20gb running windows xp pro sp2.
other specs
- Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz
- MSI P6N SLI Platinum LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce
- EVGA 640-P2-N821-AR GeForce 8800GTS 640MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16

My question is if I purchase the following hard drive and and install and run windows xp on that hard drive, how much performance increase can I expect?
faster booting time?
better performance in gaming?
office applications?
image editing, etc?

Windows xp currently installed on Maxtor 20gb 7200 rpm, avg. seek time 9.7ms. 2mb buffer size

Looking to purchase this one to replace 20 gb
- Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS (Perpendicular Recording Technology) 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

you know, usually, RAM is specified by xxxMHz, xxxMB, ECC or nonECC.

bits move from the FSB, through the RAM to the CPU, right?
now, what does the frequency of the RAM(the xxxMHz that they scream about in the ads) do during the transfer.
answer specifically for DDR2 SDRAMs.
case study:
if a PC is CPU 1.6GHz Duo Centrino tech, FSB 800MHz, RAM 1.0GB, 667MHz DDR2.
the ram is the slowest, right? now, what does this 667MHz do in relation to the transfer of bits btw the CPU and the motherboard. remember it is DDR2, so it works 2x on each FSB cycle
please explain simply...
thanks.
