you must clarify.
use 1 only when you need to in your explanation otherwise it becomes confusing.

Without more information I am just going to guess what could be wrong so don't hold me to this because there could be many things wrong without seeing your setup.
So first have you checked your bios setup and allowed it to be used? does your system support large storage size? do you have it set as master or slave? sometimes they will not auto detect if one is not set up as the master. Also some drives that are larger don't like being the slave they want to be master check it and see. Do you have a raid setup? if not set it to have more than one disk say a raid striped 0 try that first, Did you have a problem with the cord ? does your motherboard have dip switches to allow different type drives some have to have the switches set correctly for them to work. You said it crashed?? what do you mean it crashed did it not boot at all? or do you still have all the information on the drive if you boot it up separately? Did you knock something loose or pinch a wire when you put it in? and did you format it? these are things you can look at without costing you anything and if this don't help call tech support for help they can help you as well if it's new they will be able to help. I know this does not answer your question but I hope it gives you an ideal of where to start and what to look for that way you can figure it out yourself.
