I just got a new computer. It used to have the old stuff on there but my uncle updated it so i could have Windows XP instead of 98. We put in the keyboard and for some reason it did't work. So i'm wondering if you need to have the same model of them in order to work. The hard drive is a Gateway and the Keyboard is IBM.

Can I get some opinions about the best brand/model of DVD burner (hardware)?
The DVD burner I use now (Sony) doesn't work well.
When I make a (legal) backup copy of a DVD, the new DVD copy won't play on any of my 3 home DVD players, and it won't even play on the DVD burner that created the backup.
I am looking for one that is the most compatible with all home DVD players.

I use RipIt4Me, DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, and Nero for the software. I don't think the software is the problem. And I have tried SEVERAL different brands of DVD+R media.

Any one care to comment on the best brand/type of blank DVD media to use?

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

I'm thinking about getting a new computer (most likely a Dell Dimension) but I want to make sure I am ready for the Windows Vista OS update. I keep hearing that 2 GB of RAM and a 256MB video card is optimal for Windows Vista, but what does this mean exactly? I am very much into video editing, so I will need as much RAM as I can get. Would getting 2GB be just enough to support Vista? Or would it leave me ample amount to work with for the memory-intensive task of editing video? Should I get 4GB to make sure?

I afraid if the new hard disk will encounter some uncompatibility issues with the old version of SD RAM instead of DD RAM. What do you think?

I do not know the make of my sound card. I have a very old PC P3 600 Mhz with intel 810 motherboard. After I reinstalled windows Xp the soundcard is not showing in the device manager and windows media player cannot play anything. I have tried to auto detect the hardware from "Add new hardware" option but it is unable to install the driver automatically. Is there any universal sound card driver available?
