I have so many games on my pc and am running out of space. I had 26GB left and then did the disk fragmenter, I now only have 17GB. I thought it was supposed to create space not use up space. Can anybody help!

You mean "defragmenter". And no, the defragmenter (or "defragger") just rearranges fragmented files so that they are no longer fragmented. It will make more CONTIGUOUS free space available, but it can't create space.

no..disk defragmenter doesnt give u space at all. it just rearranges those fragmented files.
it's just like in a library...imagine those scattered books after being read by students.. it is the same as fragmented files.
now, once the books are arranged by the library staff, and put in the correct shelves, then difinitely, the books will be easier for the student to look for a desired subject - now thats the same result after you successfully run the disk defragmenter.
it would now be easy and faster for the hard disk to open what certain file you want to access.

disc defrag does not make space, it just rearranges files and folders so that it more easily accessible...it can free up space that resides between files but doesn't actually create space.....run disc cleanup and select all the options as well as cleanup all but the most recent restore point....after running disc defrag the reason you have less available drive space is system restore created a save point in the event something went wrong.....also uninstall any programs you do not use, as well as delete files you don't need anymore. Of course the easy answer is just get a bigger hard drive or a second hard drive and put all your games on that.

Disk defrag may make more contiguous space, but overall space does not change.
Most games only need 2-3 GB's any way, so you have plenty of space to go.

Disk fragmenter doesn't actually create space, it rearranges your files on the disk so you can access them quicker.

defraging doesn't make space - it takes all the fragmented files that are spread out over the hard drive and moves them closer together or makes them into one, to speed up file reads on the drive.
If you want to try to clear diskspace - run disk clean up - and make sure to check everything when the list comes up.

defraging your disk doesnt give you any more space, it just rearranges the files so they are easier to read. i dont know why you have less space, it should have stayed the same
