I've bought a Core 2 Duo E6400 (2.13Ghz) about a month ago and have heard great things about this processor's overclocking ability. However, I just can't seem to find good resources to tell me just how to go about this task. I'm aware of the multiplier, the Bus speed, the voltages, and all that, but I'm not exactly sure what to do with them. Is it just a matter of increasing the Bus speed in the BIOS? what about Prime95 stability testing and that stuff?

What I'm looking for here is link to a nice step-by-step guide to overclocking a Core 2 Duo successfully. Nothing crazy, just 2.93 Ghz or so. I built my computer with a Zalman CNPS7700 Alcu cooler in case I would want to overclock in the future, so cooling shouldnt be an issue.

Here are my specs btw:

Core 2 Duo E6400 @ stock speed
Gigabyte 965P DS3 with F7 BIOS (I think)
1gb corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 Memory

I am going to buy one of these motherboards, however i need to know if there is a significant difference in overclocking ability.

I don't need any of the extra features of the deluxe over the standard. I also have a good enough cooling system in mind that will make the heatpipes virtually unrequired.

Is there any other differences that i may need to know? thanks.

I am using a Dell Inspiron E1405. I am trying to burn a data cd to backup some files. In the past, I have been able to insert a blank cd-r and burn the files to the disc. Now, when I put in a blank cd-r, my computer is not able to read the disc. Opening up "My Computer" on windows, I get the following error window:

D:\ is not accessible
Incorrect function

other discs with data already on them work normally with no problems. This includes data discs, music discs, as well as dvds. It is a DVD +/- rw

According to Dell CS this procedure completely removes all past data and makes it unretrievable by any means. I've read some opposing views on Yahoo answers. If not, how about some of the commercial 'wipe clean' products out there? Or, as some have stated is a hammer the only true option? Thanks

Is there any way to check to see if your memory stick is going bad... other than the fact that your computer starts acting funny over a period of time?
Other than buying a new stick and seeing if there is a difference, perhaps there is a freeware program out there to download and do the diagnostics?????

I just got the battlefield 2 game and i want a joystick to fly planes with. I have a joystick(microsoft sidewinder 3d pro) but it supposed to go with windows 95, i don't have a port on the back of my computer that it will fit in, and i don't have the drivers anymore. I have an HP Media Center PC and if I get a new joystick what are your suggestions, what have you had a good expierience with or have been looking at that looks like a good one(if you can it would be helpful if you listed the price along with it)? Or is there a way to get my sidewinder 3d pro working on my computer(an adapter?)

My computer has a hard drive that is missing a NT loader, and I don't want to lose my data. So I want to know how do I copy my data? I've been told that I need a IDE cable and make my hard drive a slave drive (or something) and that was all, is there anything else?

the screen is either blue, snowy looking, or turns back off alltogether. the power is on the tower and lights flash on the floopy and cd dirves. I have tried old recovery disks and origional software cd's in various orders. Nothing seems to change. I took the tower sides off and looked for loose or burnt pieces and cant see anyting except dust. Someone told me it would not be the hard drive because nothing would happen at all if that was the case. It is an old windows 98 computer and not worth investing in execpt my daughter wants a computer and this is all i can afford. What do you think the deal is? Motherboard, processer, hard drive, or what? How do I check.?

I have tried two different brand-new generic wireless LAN cards, in all slots. One is not detected at all for some reason, neither in the BIOS messages nor in the driver after booting. The other hangs the machine before boot even begins. Running dual P3-750's, have latest BIOS. 100BT LAN card, sound card, modem, TV/Capture card, all work fine in any slot.

Hi,
I have a 80gb hard drive, however I want to upgrade to a 250gb hard drive. I want the operating system that is on the 80gb on the 250gb one. So I can sell the 80gb, and carry on where I left off with the old 80gb hard drive. If it involves putting both hard drives into the computer, I will do it, but just need some guidance, Thanks very much in advance folks :)
