I am going to buy one of these motherboards, however i need to know if there is a significant difference in overclocking ability.

I don't need any of the extra features of the deluxe over the standard. I also have a good enough cooling system in mind that will make the heatpipes virtually unrequired.

Is there any other differences that i may need to know? thanks.

fsb has been improved, now goes up to 600mhz on all p5b varieties

The last answer was ridiculously stupid, "the P5B is a horrible overclocker, the P5B-E is great for overclocking." Well the only difference in the two is that the second one has firewire, and of course we all know what an important role firewire plays in overclocking. If you don't need the extra features of the deluxe, get the plain, they both use the same northbridge, so they overclock the same, which is very well, I know from experience. By the way, I would say 400Mhz versus stock 266Mhz is a pretty damn good overclock, but the board will go higher than that.

Yes, the P5B is NOT a good overclocker , it has very little voltage settings, which will prevent you from a good overclock.

Also the FSB can only reach : 400MHZ as per ASUS' website.

If you don't need the Deluxe then go for this one : P5B-E.

The -E makes all the difference. Now this board is only missing 2 voltage settings compared to the Deluxe, and it allows a FSB increase up to : 650MHZ.

This is the board I will get, obviously it's more Cash than the P5B,
but it's also less than the P5B Deluxe.

The average FSB overclock with the Core 2 Duo E6300 on the P5B-E is around 490MHZ.

You will never get that with the P5B.

Only with the P5B-E and the P5B Deluxe.

No that review was for the P5B DELUXE only.
The bios 0507 which they refer to is ONLY FOR THE P5B DELUXE.

The P5B will never be a good overclocker.

Well, from my experience, I had the A8N-SLI Deluxe and the A8N-SLI Premium, and I can tell you that it most likely does not interfere with overclockability.

Most likely, the Deluxe probably has some stupid extra features like a better southbridge heatsink or something, but the BIOS for the main part (the thing that should control the overclocking) and the core of the motherboard in itself should remain the same.

This is like asking if a regular version of a car would run faster than a Limited model... they both should do the same thing, just with some extra features no one really needs.

i imagine Asus makes use of Award Bios on there forums from what i visit undergo in ideas. So the beep code that you're transforming into is frequently releated to both undesirable video card or lacking video card. actual yep its a video card mistakes. I in simple terms pulled the video card out of my wifes computer (that did not make her satisfied) and rebooted. Its utilising an Asus board and that i'm getting that similar beep code. Edit: the following is the beep code record for the award BIOS a million short beep standard placed up - device is okay 2 short beeps placed up mistakes - mistakes code shown on exhibit screen No beep skill grant or device board difficulty continuous beep skill grant, device board, or keyboard difficulty Repeating short beeps skill grant or device board difficulty a million lengthy, a million short beep device board difficulty a million lengthy, 2 short beeps exhibit adapter difficulty (MDA, CGA) a million lengthy, 3 short beeps better pictures Adapter (EGA) 3 lengthy beeps 3270 keyboard card
