I have tried two different brand-new generic wireless LAN cards, in all slots. One is not detected at all for some reason, neither in the BIOS messages nor in the driver after booting. The other hangs the machine before boot even begins. Running dual P3-750's, have latest BIOS. 100BT LAN card, sound card, modem, TV/Capture card, all work fine in any slot.

Chances are im going to tell you what you already know, but here goes! The card that hangs the system before P.O.S.T. is unworkable period. Chances are it has a shorted chipset.
- Improper BIOS configuration settings.
- The cards are bad or have been improperly handled. Try them independently in another system to see whats up.
- Hardware conflict with another card on the PCI bus. Strip your PCI slots of everything except the one semi-responding wifi card. Then reintegrate the remaining cards in a series of trials depending on results.
- Your Mobo doesnt support wifi cards.
Best of luck!
