"GeForce 7950 GX2 features a knockout pair of GeForce processors on one irresistibly powerful board. This dual-GPU board features an astounding 1 GB of fast GDDR3 memory and support for resolutions up to 2560 X 1600. It’s a beautiful thing"
in sli mode you dont actually double your memory. if both cards have 256meg on board thats the total amount of ram available not 512 the sli mode splits the graphic processing between both cards theoretically doubling throughput so id say the 7950 should run faster than two 512 cards of similar spec. just go over kill and sli two geforce 7950 cards that should kick ***

fee smart a million GB will be more low-cost than 2 - 512's by using some greenbacks. yet counting on your motherboard it may well be more suitable constructive to get both 512's. or maybe attempt to spring for 2 - 1GB. because some more recent motherboards(noticeably those that help the midsection 2 Duo) cope with twin Channel memory. it truly is it truly will double your clock velocity of the memory, so 400Mhz runs like 800Mhz. yet to do this they favor 2 of an same chip. in case you in trouble-free words have a million it is going to run in only tremendous yet in unmarried Channel (widespread) Mode. also, counting on your purposes 1GB is more suitable than sufficient for everyday use so the possibilities of you upgrading earlier you come back to a decision to get yet another pc is likely noticeably small.

As far as I know, video cards with 1 GB memory does not exist yet.

However the latest video cards (The highest available is 512MB) can be run side by side with each other. (It is called SLI by NVidia and Crossfire by ATI)

So a comparison would be impossible since there are no available 1GB video cards.
