I am trying to upgrade my RAM on my desktop pc. Will I be able to mix the PC2700 and PC3200 without having any problem?

My PC didnt turn on one day. The fan spins for a second, the light on the Mobo stays on so does the case power light but thats it. Dead, no hard drive spins etc and it does not beep, it dont even get that far.

I went out and got a new Mobo and 500w power supply. I connected it up and....

Still exactly the same problem. I appreciate it could be processor but its not likely and even if it was the processor, it wouldnt have a chance to heat up within half a second and cause power failure.

Does anyone know what it could be? Before i go out and spend money i dont have on a new system :(. I mean, could it be as basic as the power switch being faulty?

I really need someones help!

my computer freezes and restarts on its own for no reason. before this i downloaded AVG, Limewire and updated quicktime, now i can't even use defragment or disk cleaner without it restarting. can someone help?

Hi all

ive never posted in this part of the forum before so sorry if its in the wrong place.

I bought a usb webcam a few months ago-I tried to install it and my computer wouldnt accept it- The comp kept freezing after i tried to turn it on.A CD to install it came with it-But i have since moved home and misplaced it.

Ive since gotten a new comp but I dont have the CD to install the CAM -can i get software online to install it

I want to install more RAM in my computer which currently has 256mb DDR and has a 2.8Ghz processor. I was thinking of taking RAM from my old PC and installing it my current one.

I know how to fit it and do all the hands on stuff but after you have fitted the RAM does anything have to be done to configure it?

Or does the computer automatically start using it?

The hard drive on my pc packed in.

I replaced it with an old hard drive from an older pc and it works ok.

But for some reason I havent got any of the sound icons on my task bar, the sound isnt working and i cant detect my sound card even though it is there because its a built in 1 that came with the pc.

And for some reason my cd-rom has got power in it but when I put a disc in it doesnt read anything, it just spins and then stops

Please please help me

It worked yesturday and today it doesnt work. For example if i hit one of the numbers and the shift key at the same time it usually makes a symbol. (ie. i hit key the number 2 and shift at the same time and it sohuld make this @) but now its not working. if i hit the 2 key and shift at the same time...it just does a 2. did i do something that made this happen? I think i probably did as iam computer incompetent. could somebody pleeeeease help me, i would be super grateful. i have a term paper due, and it will be very frustrating. thanks so much.

I'm looking to sell my old computer (just the tower) and maximize profit on it. It's a Dell computer, about four years old. It has a Pentium 4 2.19 Ghz processor, 1 GB of RAM, and a 27.9 GB hard drive, all in good condition.

and defragging. My computer is about 3 years old and I am down to 57% memory. I've deleted a LOT of stuff and did a disk clean up and defragging of course. (I do that weekly regardless). Any helpful suggestions? I know I could wipe everything out and start all over with a recovery disk but I really don't want to do that. Any other suggestions? Thanks to all who answered my last question. THAT was a amazing. I'm new to all of this so I was quite impressed!
