How come the shift key on my keyboard doesnt work? Did I do something?

It worked yesturday and today it doesnt work. For example if i hit one of the numbers and the shift key at the same time it usually makes a symbol. (ie. i hit key the number 2 and shift at the same time and it sohuld make this @) but now its not working. if i hit the 2 key and shift at the same time...it just does a 2. did i do something that made this happen? I think i probably did as iam computer incompetent. could somebody pleeeeease help me, i would be super grateful. i have a term paper due, and it will be very frustrating. thanks so much.

Try unplugging the keyboard from the computer turning the computer off plugging the keyboard in the back of the computer and turning the computer back on.
2 Did you try the other shift button. If both shift buttons are out it is not a keyboard problem. it is a software problem. Unless you have the
Num Lock
Caps Lock
or
Scroll Lock
lights on . they are usually little green orange, or yellow lights. located around the top of your keyboard. if any of the lights are on the lock is on.
caps lock is located at the at the left hand side of most keyboards above the shift. which is what i think you hit.
the num lock is usually located in the number arrow section at the right of your keypad. the scroll lock is located at the right of your F buttons. F1- F12. i hope this helps.

is it happening with a particular software or with the whole PC?
if u cant use the shift key anywhere in ur PC then the problem is with hardware, not software. u might want to check whether the key itself is working fine,,, coz sometimes the keys get jammed, it happens with me a lot of time when i spill some juice or cold drink on my keyboard, some of the keys get jammed and i cant use them for a while.

go to control panel then uninstall the driver and restart ur computer.
i think this should fix the problem.
but b4 this make a system restore point.

IMPORTANT-b4 doing anything said above bring some other keyboard fix it if shift key works then your keyboard is faulty!!!

carry the shift key down and press the PrtSc key and launch then open paint, be conscious pad, be conscious pad and click paste then you definitely can duplicate, digital mail it or what ever you prefer to prepare the image for.
