I've tried all the software fixes short of reformatting. What could be the problem?

Check the requirements for the game.
They may be higher than the requirements of your system.

See my last post, the 7600GT probably needs at least 350W with plently of amps along the 12V rail. You want a solid PSU from a good reputable company - you may need to upgrade if you're using a case PSU.

It could be the power supply as said in a previous posting. Another reason could be the temperature in your PC.
You can do this :
1. Install the everest Programm from www.lavalys.com. and check the critical temperatures.
2. Try to open you pc, put extra fans, put your pc outside if you have winter, to see if reducing the temperature solves the problems.
3. Eventually purchase what is necessary to cool your PC.

try to reinstall nvidia driver to last version. or it can be direct X. you must setup lastest version. I have GeForce 7600GT 512MB and have no problems with a games.

U r Gmae would be pirated one or it might the game requirement is not according to computer configration.
