and defragging. My computer is about 3 years old and I am down to 57% memory. I've deleted a LOT of stuff and did a disk clean up and defragging of course. (I do that weekly regardless). Any helpful suggestions? I know I could wipe everything out and start all over with a recovery disk but I really don't want to do that. Any other suggestions? Thanks to all who answered my last question. THAT was a amazing. I'm new to all of this so I was quite impressed!

Go to the Windows folder. Make sure you have view hidden folders and files checked in your Windows Explorer. You should see a mess of directories labeled something like $NtUninstallKB920213$. These are where Windows stores all the patch uninstall information. The reality is that you will probably never uninstall a patch and, if you do, it won't be a patch from a year or two ago. I would delete everything older than three months.

Go to start, then search, then click on files and programs, type in temporary internet files, then under that type temp and click on search. This should bring up a full page of temp files, go to the top of your screen and click edit, select all the go over to files and click on delete.THis gets rids of all files you have looked at maybe once. It will not get rid of files you are using.

Goto:

Run and enter "msconfig" and then goto startup and uncheck all the boxes of utilities that you dont need at boot. (you can open these manually)
