Basically what I am wanting to do is transfer everything that is on my Dad's computer to a better one, transfer everything on my Mom onto my Dad's old comp, and finally transfer what is on my current comp onto my Mom's comp. Upgrading each of the computers. All of us have quite a bit of information, programs, data, etc... on our computers, and my Dad and I are trying to find a way to just move from one computer to another. It seems like a simple enough concept, but we are not finding any way to do it. We are trying NOT to have to back everything up to discs (that would be stacks!!!) and then lose the programs we already have installed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Microsoft Tech Support was no help what-so-ever, and this is one of our last options.

When I play almost any game (even on lowest graphics settings), my CPU jumps to 100% and stays there. I have between 2-10x the recommended specs to play the game depending on what game. Why is this? I have tried updating drivers etc, and I just got done reloading Windows to see if it was a conflict in drivers and it STILL does it. I have a Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz processor, 128 MB Gforce FX 5200 vid card, 770 MB of ram, countless gigs of HDD space, and am running windows XP home.

Hello; I recently have been having trouble trynig to find a decent budget power supply until I came acrosss these few:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817101021

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817182017

...now; the big question is that which one will be able to suit the needs of these components???? [Look this over CAREFULLY for compatibility issues with the power supply....]

CPU - AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice 2.2GHz 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor - Retail $74.00 (pretty sure)

Motherboard - ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail $132.99 (pretty sure)

Video Card - PNY VCG7600SXPB GeForce 7600GS 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail $89.99 (not sure; maybe rushed picking?)

Memory - CORSAIR ValueSelect 512MB (2 x 256MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail $59.99(pretty sure; check compatibility)

HDD - Western Digital Caviar SE WD1600JSRTL 160GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Retail $59.99 (pretty sure)

DVD Burner - LITE-ON 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 40X CD-ROM IDE DVD Burner included extra White bezel - Retail ($35.99)

...now if someone's able to give me a good reccomendation on a power supply; then all that I'll need is a case reccomendation on this.....and as for the budget of the case; keep it close to $40 or $50 dollars; for I'm on a tight *** budget;)

The pc will not communicate with the keyboard and mouse as their indicator lights will not come on. The indicator lights for the monitor will come on to show power but nothing is showing on the screen. All three will work with another pc. We purchased a new hard drive and still got nothing. Could it be the motherboard? Can someone help us?

So, I have a TV Tuner on my computer. I was curious to know, if I plug the coax from my VCR to my TV Tuner card, can I record the VCR's onto my computer then burn them on DVD's. One reason I was wondering is for home movies that are beginning to go bad. Is there any certain software i Need?

Thanks,
Alex

Ok, so, there has been this clunking sound coming from the hard drive for a while now (atleast half a year or more), usually when I start up and once or twice at night. It is occasional.

Now, before anyone starts screaming HDD failure, this has been happening pretty long and no signs of failure yet. What is the problem?

Yesterday, I installed Lavasoft Pro and the clunking came irregular in short intervals but that was the only time it happened. This hard drive is pretty old (been through two builds).

Went to Staples and fellow there said "you really should use a flash drive that would solve your problem", maybe but I'd like to be able to use the equipment that came on this thing, its only 16 days old. I also somethimes get a message "you don't have permission to save on this directory" its my machine, what permission, from who

I just need to know what to do so that the computer recognizes the on board audio. I went through device manager and it doesn't show up, when i click volume control it says " There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices go to Vontrol Panel, click Printers andOther hardware and click add hardware." that doesn't help.

I'm usually good with this type of jargon, and, I have a general idea of what they both mean, but...I want to be sure. I'm about to buy some computer parts from new egg. Don't want to buy the wrong thing. :)

I know the basics, but, if anyone could give me a little more...that'd be AWESOME.
